Important: Measles Alert

Following a recent outbreak of measles, we strongly advise all parents and carers to ensure that children are fully immunised with the MMR vaccine.

Measles is a highly infectious illness and can be serious, particularly for babies, pregnant women and people with weakened immune systems. Complications can include ear infections, pneumonia, seizures and, in rare cases, brain inflammation (encephalitis).

Please check your child’s Red Book to confirm they have received both doses of the MMR vaccine. If you are unsure about your child’s vaccination status, please contact the practice and we will be happy to check your records.

If you believe you or your child may have symptoms of measles please do NOT attend the practice in person.
Instead, please telephone the surgery or submit an online consultation so we can advise you safely.

Safeguarding

Here at Church Lane Surgery  the health and wellbeing of our patients is our priority, and we are aware that these are difficult times for families and home life can be challenging. The GP practice is a safe space for people experiencing abuse or neglect and any concerns can be discussed with a clinician or the Safeguarding champion who will offer advice for onward referral and support.

We know that cases of abuse, neglect and the incidence of domestic abuse have increased by at least 50%.

Are you a victim or are you worried that someone else may be a victim of domestic abuse, abuse or neglect?

Are there children or people with addition care and support needs in the home that could be affected by domestic abuse?

If you are concerned that an adult or child is suffering or likely to suffer harm or abuse you can call the police on 101 and state your concerns.

Call 999 if someone is in immediate danger.

Did you know?

If you are at immediate risk of harm from someone, you should call 999. If you are unable to speak, dial 55 and this will alert the call handler. You can also register to use a 999-texting service. Simply text ‘register’ to 999 and click on the link. Your phone will then be registered to text the emergency services.
